I had the pleasure to get to work with the Topps trading card company to be a part of something they do with their card collections called "artist sketch cards"
They regularly recruit artists to sketch up literally HUNDREDS upon hundreds of these original pieces of art to be placed into standard trading card packs for their various licensed trading cards (Star Wars, LOTR, etc). It's really taken off, and become a pretty cool deal for collectors of trading cards.
They have a set of Indiana Jones cards coming up and I got to be part of the sketch cards. It was a lot of hard work, to be honest, but I can't resist the call to make offical art based on my favorite movies. It really was an honor to get asked and hired.
This is one of many I'll share through the weeks. Gives me something interesting to keep posting and fill the void with.
I made most of my cards with watercolor and inks over basic pencil outlines. (I'm on a watercolor kick...it's fun and fairly simple) the trading cards measure something like 2" X 3". There are some INCREDIBLE artists making great cards for this set, so if you're an Indy fan, be sure to pick up some of the trading cards in the coming months when they're released. I think you're guaranteed one sketch card per box of trading cards, but I'm not sure.
Damn...this came out sooooo much better than mine.

Yeah, man! I think Topps released their cards worldwide...so long as you have a comic shop nearby or something like that, you should be able to score some cards!
Thanks for the kind words on these. There will be plenty more over the next few weeks.
I think that you captured the expression very well here. Not even looking at the art, I don't know why, but I like your signature. Easily readable, yet stylish, hahaa! Also like that border you put around her face.

Yeah, these little sketch cards can be pretty fun. you don't have to be worried about it looking dead on, you kind of just get to mosey around with colors or pencils or whatever you want to use.
ha! glad you like the signature. I've been sculpting for so long that I haven't signed anything in quite a while, so I just kept it simple. I love how some people sign their work with what look like symbols almost. I'd love to have something like that, but it never feels right.
Hope you get to check out the Indy trailer in the near future! it's fun! I think the film will be great
