Artist's Comments

Wellll, you know it's bad when you have to start digging through your folders scrambling to find something new to post. :) It's a shame, but almost everything I've done lately has to be kept secret for many more months. But, I did find I hadn't posted this on here, so some of you that haven't seen it can get a gander.

This was done years ago, at this point, prior to when I started seeking out work. I really loved the Sky Captain movie, simple as it is, and I figured I'd try to cut my teeth in sculpture with those characters. I only got as far as this and an unfinished Jude Law, but it was a great exercise in sculpture, and a time consuming challenge.

She was sculpted in 1/6 scale in Castilene wax, prior to when that stuff started getting mixed wrong. The gun in her holster is not sculpted by me, I just bought a 1/6 scale pistol that looked about right. Lazy, but I have no talent/skill/ nor patience for mechanical sculptures. :D God bless those who do! haha!

The top shots are a resin casting of the finished sculpture. Mike Allen over at Forbidden Zone [link] helped me get her cast up, thank you Mike! The bottom, fully painted shot, was done by Stephen Parke, a great artist [link]

So enjoy this ancient work! thanks for looking.

Pretty crap figure to have to sculpt mate!! Can't think of any redeeming feature to at least enjoy - LOL.

TERRIFIC as usual Trev. Great pose and again a great paint job.

I think what impresses me the most about your work, is the way you sculpt fabrics/folds so realistically. That's such a hard thing to accurately do even in drawings and paintings, yet you can do it perfectly in a sculpted form. @_@ <3

This is a signature.

It contains the following ingredients:

Feeshies, duckies, monosodium glutamate, corn syrup, Dirhodium trisulphate, gum, artificial flavoring, Red 33, banana chips, pickle brine, a green crayon, your face.

:D Nothing like cutting your teeth on eye-candy, Trev! This is a sweet piece.

Thanks! I've got a lot to learn when it comes to fabric and folds. It is, as you said, very difficult. The one wonderful thing about it, is it's all very natural and flowing in most cases, and you don't have to study reference as closely as you do with a face sculpt. There's a bit more freedom to it
take care!
