This was a bear of a project. One of the most difficult things I ever composed, if you can believe that. This piece was done earlier this year, for a convention in Oklahoma, celebrating Trek. The problem was that I knew nothing about Star Trek, had never seen any of it, and jumped in with no knowledge at all. the fun part was getting to know some of the series...which surprisingly is quite good. (next generation anyways)
the piece was made to represent the entire convention, based around a show from the original series called, "A Piece of the Action". My friend/client had a lot of requests with the piece, and you'd be amazed at how much it evolved..
the piece was sent off to be at the convention, and sold on the auction block for $500. funds went to a Oklahoma City relief via my request, as well as the conventions' animal charity.' The piece was also used as a tshirt design. (back of tee) to go with a convention logo I created (front of tee)
hope those who like Trek like it. I know there are many who loathe the series as well though...those who haven't seen it...take some time to...it's fun.
Well, I wouldn't call myself a 'Trekkie' in that I'm not obsessed with the series, but I have seen quite a few of them. Especially the original series. (My father used to watch it when I was a kid. ) This is very impressive! I'm wondering how large the original piece is. And is it all color pencil? I love the layout of the design and the characters are all magnificent! Splendid job!
the piece is 90% colored pencil. the light from the logo is airbrushed, as is the glow of the planet, and the black of the background is gesso...but otherwise, all pencil.
THATS AMAZING....my mother is a big trekkie...if u ask she can tell how to say "where is the bathroom" in klingon.....and u sold it for only $500....dude..i think it shouldve been worth more..this would look great as a print or a poster
