Artist's Comments

This was a sculpt I did in early 2007 for Sideshow Collectibles. I thought you Star Wars junkies would like to see the bare sculpt. You can see the finished prototype at Sideshow's site:

The diorama is just now starting to ship out, and I gotta say, I think they did an amazing job keeping it faithful to the painted prototype. (I only sculpted the piece, the paints were done by at by Sideshow's team)

The sculpt is in 1/9th scale and stands about 10" tall. Sculpted in NSP and wax. the lightsabers were given to me to place into the sculpture, but otherwise everything was done by hand (except the pipe on the ground, the chain, and the smaller rocks)

enjoy! I'll be uploading yoda shots next

Absolutely astounding work. You are a prodigy in the field. Your likeness' are exceptional and you're scultpure has managed to bring some respectability and majesty to a "laughable" sequence the movie handled very poorly. Bravo!

You are a very impressive sculptor, I must say.

The gods must be crazy.:pringles:

Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.

Thank you very much! Your artwork is great!!! I LOVE the Firefly work. Nice to see another browncoat!

I can't believe you don't love the flying goblin-yoda sequence?! the screams of fury add so much to Yoda. ;) unfortunately, the prequels just don't have much going for them...but they are fun to sculpt!

thanks, take care

Thanks for the kind words. Yep, The "Enter the Yoda" fight as a like to phrase it hit me with uncontrollable jocularity. I remember I found my self laughing out loud in the theatre to the shock of my surrounding movie goers/fans. I thought they were going to lynch me at first but then I must have "rubbed off" as several others chorused in as well. What was George thinking?!? Oh, well......:)

Holy crap! Obviously I've been gone too long. That's amazing you're doing something like this! How did it come about?

Hey, thanks!

I got the bug to start sculpting a few years ago and thanks to the encouragement of a sculptor friend, I sent in a portfolio to Sideshow, since I really loved their work, and I heard they were a great group of people.

From that, I got to try my hand at a few tiny head sculpts for them, a Sarah Connor from Terminator and some Star Wars stuff. I guess they liked what I was doing, because they've been loading me up with work ever since, God bless 'em! :) They're great folks and fun people to make sculptures for.

So the bottom line is...I just got reallllly lucky. it's been hard work, but it's been rewarding too!
take care,
Trev

I'm not a star wars geek and I'm in awe... what do you use to sculpt with?
